Early Winter Came to Finland

Early winter surprised Finland on September 23, 2014. A scene

Today, it seems like the winter has come to Finland. It is very early this year. Today, we got a first snow (well, not in my area in Western Finland, but in Northern and Eastern Finland)! Anyway, last night was very cold also here in the west coast, temperature was only -2 °C or 26 ºF.

On this morning, I saw three swans flying towards the south. It was a beautiful but also a plaintive scene. Now it really feels like summer is over and winter is coming. Well, no problem for me. As my friends knows, the winter is my favorite season of the year.

Lately, I have been very busy in my work, and that's why I've been so silent in my blog and YouTube. Yesterday, I started my 10 days summer vacation. I worked all summer long, and only now I have time enough to rest and relax and just be a lazy. :)

Let me tell some other news from my life.

Three weeks ago, I started to study Russian language in the adult training college. It's quite difficult but also very interesting. I can only do my best, and my Russian friend support me. At least I hope so. Haha. ;)

Last Saturday, I visited in the local antique store, and I bought four old Finnish military magazines, useful for me since military history is my job and also my hobby.

Well, these were the latest updates from chilly Finland. Stay tuned, and see you, my friends. Have a wonderful autumn to all!

Teisuka

P.S. The photos in this article are not taken by me, except the image of magazines.

My Russian textbook called «Пора!» (English: It's
time). In this case, it is time to learn Russian! :)

I bought from the local antique store. Photo by Teisuka.

  3. Hi Teisuka,
Thank you for sharing some latest news about your life, which is quite interesting! -:) I'm glad that you are on summer vacation right now, and you definitely deserve it. Hope you are enjoying it and having lots of rest!

So the winter came earlier in your area. I think it's a good sign for you, as you love winter! The picture shows quite some snow. Hope that the snow will come to your area as well soon! Haha...

So you've been learning Russian for several weeks now. Do you enjoy the class? Is Russian easy or difficult for you? It's said that learning a new language is one of the best ways to overcome mid-life crisis. Hope you are not having a mid-life crisis now. Oh, sorry , just kidding. -:) But seriously, a lot of people start feeling less happy when they are over 40 years ago. And they are content with their life again after they are over 60. So life is just like the shape of "U" in terms of happiness. The age between 40 and 60 is the bottom part of that U, and after you get over it, you become happier and happier. Hope it is true, haha. I have been feeling down quite often recently, maybe I'm having a mid-life crisis? I pray that God can help me overcome these bad feelings...

It has always been a pleasure reading your blogs, and I'm thinking of setting up a blog station as well. I may need your advice and suggestions later on. So what platform did you use to set up your station? It seems to me that it works pretty good. Of course, the spams have been bothering you a lot, hope they are gone by now.

Thanks again, my friend, wish you a wonderful Sunday and a great new week!

    Blessings to you,
    Bao

    1. Hi Bao,

Many thanks for visiting and for your kind words. Always glad to see you here, my friend. Yes, I've been enjoying my summer vacation and also the Russian studies. To be honest, Russian language is difficult for me. Very challenging. The final reason, why I started my studies is my Russian friend, my "angel". I want to learn her mother tongue, you know. So my reason is not a mid-life crisis. At least, not in this case. Haha. :D

You wrote, a lot of people start feeling less happy when they are over 40 years old. Oh, I don't think so. Actually, many Finns think that "life begins when you are forty years old" (this is like an old Finnish saying). Personally, I think "forty plus" is a nice age. I believe that we become happier and happier since that time. :)

Sorry to hear you have been feeling down quite often recently. Please don't feel down, my friend. Cheer up! The best days are ahead! :)

Regarding my blog, I use Blogger's platform or blogspot.com. It is Google's service, free and easy to use and modify. Well, spam is a still problem. I receive 5-10 spam messages every single day, but I can handle that. No problem.

You too, have a wonderful Sunday and a new week, my friend. You and yours are in my prayers. Blessings! :)

    1. Hiya, Michiko-chan!

Yes, one swan came by today – Bonnie The Winter Swan. Hehe. ^^ Welcome, welcome! So glad to see you here!

Yes, I remember you love winter, too. And you are expecting a harsh winter this year in Japan? Waa! That's cool! In Finland, the weather has changed again, yes. Right now it's sunny and quite warm weather (13 °C). And yes, I have still few days left of my summer break. Many thanks for your good wishes and kind words, dear Bonnie-chan. I really appreciate it. I wish you a wonderful week! Blessings to you and yours! ^^

    2. Hi again, Michiko-chan.

I read the sad news: more than 30 people presumed dead on erupting Japanese volcano. So horrible accident! >< I express my deepest condolences to the people of Japan! You and yours are in my prayers...

      Blessings,

    3. Hi Tembo-san

Thank you foryour kind thoughts. Rescue efforts are now halted as winter had swept in and the mountain is now frozen. Maybe next spring, when the ice start to thaw... the remaining victims will be able to go back home for proper, eternal sleep. R.I.P

I just got back to Japan on Friday the 24th, Tembo-san. I left for Singapore on the 11th. I went to make peace with my aunt who has only months to live. She has stage 4 cancer. It was not a 'good' trip in any sense.

Take care, Tembo-san.. Peace and Happiness!

    5. Hi, BonnieM aka Michiko-chan!

So nice to see you here, even though your news are sad. But friends can share the bad news as well as the good news, right? You told you visited Singapore to say farewell to your aunt who is dying. Such a sad, sad trip! Ah, your poor aunt... >< I wish her last months would be easy and with no pain!

Indeed, life is so fragile and unexpected. We can only thank God for our loved ones who are still with us, today and now. And finally, everything is in the hands of the God. I believe so. I call it Divine providence. All is under control... (Well, it's often hard to believe, I know that.)

Dear Bonnie-chan, I wish all the best and blessings to you and your loved ones. You're in my prayers. Ki o tsukete! Ganbatte kudasai!

      Yoroshiku,
      Tembo
