The Movie Was Filmed at My Workplace

The actors are preparing for a movie scene at the musem.

A partial enlargement: in the background, you can see the
painting of Marshal Mannerheim, The Suomi KP/-31 (a
submachine gun of Finnish design that was in service during
World War II) and the Jäger statue (after the outbreak of
the Civil War in Finland the Jägers were engaged on the
"White" side in the war). Photo by Teisuka.

Since I got only one comment on my last update, I'm posting a new article already. I think this could be more interesting... (^—^)

As I told before, my job is cool and each day is different. A few days ago they were making a war film in the museum. Yes, really! Last Wednesday, the Finnish crew filmed some scenes in the museum. They were making a war film called Kaukopartio (English: Long-range Patrol, Russian: Дальний патруль), directed by Harri J. Rantala. During the filming of the movie (12 hours), the museum was partly closed to the public. One of the actors was Kalevi Haapoja. He is a famous film star in Finland. Since 1968 he has played more than 30 movie or TV roles (click the actor's name if you want to find out more information).

I took some photos from the film crew. (Click the pictures to see them bigger.) I have to say, working in the war museum can be really exciting and not boring at all. I really love my new job.

Criticism of Google

Finally, I want to touch on another issue. Many users don't like the new style of YouTube, how they force everyone to use Google+. The new commenting system is very complicated and frustrating. On these days, Google+ is nothing more than a mere "ghost town". I want to quote from the Wikipedia article called Criticism of Google:

"On November 6, 2013, Google implemented a new comment system that requires all YouTube users to use a Google+ account to comment on videos, thereby making the comment system Google+-orientated. The corporation stated that the change is necessary to personalize comment sections for viewers, in response to an overwhelmingly negative public response – even YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim expressed disdain by writing on his channel: "why the f**k do I need a google+ account to comment on a video?". The official YouTube announcement ("Meet the new YouTube comments") received 20,097 “thumbs down” votes and generated more than 32,000 comments over a two-day period."

Check out the video that is mentioned above. Perhaps you also want to express your opinion...

You can find my new Google+ page by clicking here.

Have a blessed weekend to all my friends.

The "White General" and Marshal of Finland. Carl Gustaf
Emil Mannerheim (1867-1951) was a Finnish military
leader and statesman. In the future, I'm going to tell more
about this interesting person in my blog. Until then, please
read my long comment to Nika in this article. ( ̄ー ̄)

My military rank is also jäger (an ordinary soldier). Photo by Gilmore.

  1. very interesting. is there a role in this film Mannerheim ? im interested in this person. still controversy over his actions in Russia. i mean to the siege of Leningrad 900 days and nights. i like to thank you for any information.

G+ is terrible. i still not understand how it is managed. for some reason im sure that all of the accounts that dont provide personal information about themselves in the future will be deleted. reason: as posing a potential threat to society.
they will find what threats. for example , the threat of not being under the control of the security services. G+ disgusting. it would be better if it never happened.
have a happy weekend my dear friend^^

    2. Hi Nika,

Many thanks for your great comment, my dear friend. Always glad to see you here in my blog. :) I agree with you, G+ is terrible and even disgusting. It seems Google try to force people to use their real names. I am very critical and suspicious of this. I also think that Google helps NSA (The National Security Agency) to spy the whole world and collect information from us. Yes, they are real "Big Brother" watching us all... We must be careful on the Internet and protect our privacy as well as we can.

I am glad to hear that you are also interested in Mr. Mannerheim. Because I'm too! :) Actually, Mannerheim is my "special area" in the museum. One week ago we, had a great Mannerheim day, and I was a guide in his headquarters. For example, there is a life-size Mannerheim wax figure at the museum. In the future, I'm going to make a big article about Mannerheim to my blog. I want to introduce this great and controversial person to my friends around the world.

I am not sure but I think there is no role of Mannerheim in this new Finnish film. Related to the siege of Leningrad, it was a horrible operation (actually, I think it was a war crime against the Soviet people). So many people died, even more than 1 million civilians. :( During my life, I have read a lot of this topic, and also watched many TV documentaries.

I am relieved to tell that Mr. Mannerheim didn't take part of this siege. At least, not directly. At the time, the Finnish troops were in the background. Germans wanted to conquer the city alone. In 1941, the Finnish President Risto Ryti said, "the capture of Leningrad was NOT our goal and that we should NOT take part in it. Mannerheim and the military minister Walden agreed with me and refused the offers of the Germans".

Before The October Revolution, general Mannerheim served 30 years in the Imperial Russian Army (1887-1917). He had a Russian wife Anastasie Arapova and two daughters, both were born in Russia. Mannerheim loved Leningrad (Saint Petersburg). It was his former hometown, where he had lived for many, many years. That was a happy time in his life. Also he loved Russia BUT he hated the Bolshevism. He said, "the Bolsheviks destroyed the Russia that I loved". Well, as I said, I'm going to tell more about this person in the future. Okay? :)

I wish you a wonderful Sunday, my dear friend. Also happy new week ahead. Be well and take good care of yourself, Nikuska. You're always in my mind and prayers. ^^

      Warm greetings from sunny Finland,

      Teisuka

    3. hi its me again :)
many thanks for your reply. i look forward to ф full-text article of Marshal Mannerheim.
im creation one more vid of Pskov. Pskov rail station is historic and tragic significance in the life of Russia. i visited this place. at the entrance to the train station there is a commemorative plaque of the event. opposite the station was built a chapel in memory of this. Way of the Cross of the last Russian Tsar Nicholas II began in Pskov, where Nicholas II on 2 March 1917, signed an act of abdication.
btw, i added annotations to my latest travel train vid. now i plan to add new pics of Pskov and passing towns i have not published before.
      sorry for my bad eng

    5. Hi again, Nika. :)

Thank you very much for your kind reply and "xa-xa", my dear friend. That always makes me smile. :D I am very interested to see your new video of Pskov railway station! It was horrible how the Bolsheviks killed the Romanov family. >< May they all rest in peace.

By the way, Tsar Nicholas II and Mannerheim knew each other. Yes, they were close and they met each other many times! The rest of his life, Mannerheim was loyal to Nicholas II. "After all, he was my tsar", Mannerheim said for decades after the death of Nicholas II. His fate was so tragic. I mean Nicholas II. I have read Edvard Radzinsky's book "The Last Tsar: The Life and Death of Nicholas II" (1993). Very interesting and touching book!

Don't worry, Nika, your English is always good enough. Please spend a wonderful Sunday, my sweet friend. The sun is shining here in Western Finland. How about Moscow? Is there beautiful these days? :)

  2. Hi Teisuka,
This is a really very interesting blog. So your job does have a lot of fun. -:) It's great that you took these pictures of the filming scene, it's so cool. When I was a kid, I was a big fan of war movies. Of course, most movies I saw at that time were propaganda of the communism government, and their army would always score big victories in the movies. ha ha...looking back, I think it's kind of funny...

So the famous actor is already over 80, but he looks great and still works. It's amazing. And he does look like a general. -:)

I agree with you that G+ is driving people crazy. Google made a mistake in starting G+ in the first place. They wanted to compete with Facebook and invested tons of money in G+, but not many people used it. Intead of accepting their failure in this investment, they "kidnapped" Youtube users, forcing them to join G+. Of course, the number of people using G+ has soared because of this, but I don't think they can even compete with facebook. Just look at the many supposedly real names of G+ users, they are definitely not real names. ha ha...I think Google is starting to make a fool of themselves...

Again, thank you for this interesting blog. I'm always happy to be here. May you enjoy the rest of the week, my friend! -:)

    1. Hi Bao,

Thank you very much for your nice comment, my friend. For my part, I can say I am always happy to see you here. You always give good feedback and encouragement. You're a real friend. 非常感谢! :)

I humbly say, I feel I am blessed and priviledged since I have so nice workplace now. ^^ By the way, when I was a child I also spent a lot of time by playing war. The Nazis were always our enemies. No, I am not a warmonger but I think I WAS, when I was a child. Haha. :D Nowadays, I'm just (ahem) interested in history. But I still like to watch war films sometimes. Hehe. ;)

I agree with your opinon about Google+. Indeed, Google is making a fool of themselves. It is interesting to see what they are going to do next...

You too, enjoy your week, my friend. Blessings to you and your family!

P.S. Now I'm going to check your new Teresa Teng video in YouTube! :)

Konbanwa~ How are things with you? I like this blog entry.. so many things to read, and to look at! Good pictures you're sharing with us, Cowboy-san.. yeeeeHA! Who is that good lookin' guy standing beside the statue?? hehe~ I'm really glad you're having so much fun at your new job, now not so new anymore -^^- Everyday is a new adventure, ya? I hope that you will continue to grow intellectually as well as enjoy each and every moment at the museum! It's good to see you having so much fun -^^-

I'm not on Youtube so much now and had gotten very annoyed at Google+ for forcing us to do all these absolutely nonsensical things! I flat-out refused to link AliceNine to G+, and as a result of that, I had been 'locked-out' of YT for almost 2 weeks now. Can't comment, can't reply to comments, can't rate comments! And obviously, can't do channel comments, too! But you know what.. they allow me to rate videos, ha! Go figure! Thunbs up, thumbs down.. Google+ I THUMB YOU DOWN!

Thank you for sharing thisarticle with us and stay warm!

I'm okay, thank you for asking. And yes, every day is like an adventure for me. Haha. How have you been lately? Hope all is well in your world. I completely agree with your opinion of Google+. You flat-out refused to link your YouTube channel to G+ ?? Waa, you are real Rebel and Fugitive, Bonnie-chan! Yeeha!! :D

For my part, I surrendered and I created Google+ page. I don't like Google's politics and style but I did my G+ page so nice and homely as I could... I also hope to see you active on YouTube as soon as possible. We miss you there, Ju-kubokkusu!

Again, many thanks for being here today. Be well and take good care of yourself, dear Bonnie-chan! :)
